사랑하는 믿음의 형제인 최목사님,

메리와 나는 목사님의 사랑하는 사모님 소천소식을 전해 듣고 너무나 슬퍼서 이 글을 씁니다. 비록 이 땅에서 하나님과 예수님과 함께 걸었던 사모님의 아름다운 영혼은 이미 천국을 얻었음에도 불구하고, 우리는 목사님과 귀한 두 아들 그리고 가족 친지들 그리고 교회의 모든 성도들이 사모님을 잃은 상실감으로부터 오는 큰 슬픔을 지금 우리도 느끼고 있다는 사실을 알기 바랍니다.

미국에 있는 우리 막내딸 매건 또한 가슴 깊은 슬픔의 애도를 목사님과 가족들에게 전해 줄 것을 우리에게 요청해 왔습니다. 매건이 이렇게 썼습니다: “최 목사님의 아름다운 아내, 배사모님 소식을 최근에 알게 되어 너무 슬퍼요. 저는 목사님과 사모님이 신혼부부로 우리 가족과 함께 식사하며, 대화 나누었던 기억이 지금도 생생해요. 그리고 시간이 조금 더 지나 사모님이 임신한 중에 최목사님이 태어날 첫째 아들을 고대하며, 기대하던 모습도 뚜렷이 기억합니다. 저는 그때 하나님께서 진실로 이 두 사람을 함께 하나 되게 하셨다는 사실을 깨 닫을 수 있었어요. 저는 언젠가 목사님의 두 아이에게 어머니의 아름다운 기억들과 지금 내가 느끼는 이 아픈 마음도 직접 말해 줄 수 있기를 소원합니다. 어렵고 힘든 시간에 목사님과 가족들에게 저의 깊은 애도를 전달하길 원합니다. 메건 백 드림”

최목사님, 만일 목사님과 목사님 가족과 목사님의 교회에 우리가 도울 수 있는 일이 있다면, 주저하지 말고 우리에게 요청해 주십시오. 기억해 주세요. 여기에 있는 많은 분들과 국외에 있는 이들 모두 목사님을 위해 기도하고 있다는 사실을. 그리고 목사님 두 아들에게 우리를 대신해 큰 포옹을 해 주세요. 또한 두 아이에게 여기 부산에 그들의 미국 할아버지와 할머니가 있다는 사실과 그들을 사랑할 뿐 아니라 자주 우리를 방문해 주기를 바란다는 사실도 알려주세요. 지속적인 사랑과 기도 가운데 함께 하길 원합니다.

Dear Brother Che,

    Mary and I were so saddened to hear of the passing of your dear lovely wife.  Although Heaven has gained one of the sweetest souls that ever walked this earth.....we know that you, your precious boys, family members, and church body are feeling sorrow from the loss.  
    Our daughter Meggan also wanted us to convey her deepest sympathy to you and your family.  She wrote: “My heart broke upon hearing about your beautiful wife.  I remember fondly of our dinners and talks together when you were just a newlywed couple...then later when you were expecting your first child.  I realized then, that God truly brought you and your wife together. I hope to see you and your children some day so that I may tell them of the sweet memories of their mother that still touches my heart to this day.  My condolences to you and your family during this difficult time.  Sincerely, Meggan Beck”
    Brother Che...If there is anything we can do to help you, your family, or your church, don’t hesitate to ask us.  Remember that there are always folks here in Busan and around the world who are praying for you.  Give your sweet boys a hug from us, and let them know that they have an old American Grandpa & Grandma here in Busan who would love to have them come and visit sometime.
